With
this years second CD edition, sunny spells and Scattered showers,
the Irish - American quintet SOLAS, won the NAIRD prize in 1996
for best celtic album in the British Isles. Some of its members
used to play with important groups such as Cherish the ladies, The
Sharon Shannon Band, the chanting House and Green fields of America.
The bands members are Seamus Egan (flute, banjo, low and tin whistle,
guitars, bodhran and percussions) Kanren Casey (vocals), winifred
Horan (violin), John Doyle (guitars, mandocello, vocals) and john
willians (acordeonz and concertina).

MANUEL BUDIÑO (Moaña - Galicia)
His
professional career began in the early 80s at the pipe school of
"Semente Nova" in Moaña. In 1987 he became part of
the "obradoiro de instrumentos populares" from the popular University
of Vigo, directed by Antón Corral, who also participated
in the "Xarabal band". In 1991 he founded the "Fol de Niv"
group and after leaving colaborated with the bands Altan, Capercaillie,
Oskorri,.... and artists such as kepa junkera and Uxia.
In 1996 he became solo, leading his proper band, which produced
its first album "Paralaia" in 1997. On stage he will
be accompanied by Leandro Deltell (Drums, percussions) Xan Hernandez
(bass) Pedro Pascual (bouzouki, concertina) and Xavier Diaz (acordeon).
BÁGOA
DE RAÍÑA (Ortigueira - Galicia)
A
band which was set up in the year 1995 from the Ortegal cliffs.
From a small band they came in contact with tunes from other countries
and cultures in the "Mundo Celta international Festival" The
group members have received training in traditional music at the
"Gaita de Ortigueira school", which also has schools in Santiago,
Ferrol and Viveiro. This year they have produced their first
CD "En Augas de Ortigueira" which will be presented in Zas.
If is formed by Rodrigo Lopez (pipe, flutel), Urbano Salgado (pipe),
Jaime Garcia (flute), Elixio Cesar (guitar) Marina Alonso (percussion)
Fredi Loureiro (bass drum) and J.M Marias (bass).
