Preparations for the cultural activity of summer 2000 are already under way.

The preparations for both the Camariñas Lace Exhibition ( Muestra de Encaje de Camariñas ) and the Pottery Craft Exhibition ( Muestra de Olería ) have begun.

(Information : Radio Nordés-Cadena Ser)

The Camariñas Lace Exhibition is taking place this year with few changes with respect to previous editions. Once more at this exhibition there will be pavillions representing local as well as international craft, allowing the promotion of lace from other countries such as Italy, the Checz Republic or the United Kingdom. Also this year, much awaited events will take place, such as the fourth editon of the Bandeira de Bateis Mostra de Encaixe or the competions for both young and established designers which will fill the catwalk in Camariñas. New ideas from well-known designers, like Oky Koky, Antonio Pernas o Carmen Pichel, will be worn by some of the most important models of the Galician fashion scene.

The exhibition this year breathes an air of a regular and established event. This however, doesn´t mean it loses importance or the attraction for it´s regular visitors, who will again fill the exhibition hall in the Villa de Encaje from the 20th to the 23rd of April. All in all there will be over 100 exhibitors of lace and other crafts, and there will also be six countries alongside other Spanish regions, exhibiting their garments which are, of course, on sale to the public. In the words of Antonio Alonso, director of the Muestra , this edition is the result of "another year´s hard work in order to try to stir the world of lace from its slumber, and to continue searching for another outlet for this craft, outside Camariñas."

In the same way, the Muestra de Olería de Buño is also underway. It will take place between the 12th and 20th of August, in the Casa del Olero in Buño. This editions aims to renew the image of the craft of pottery making, an initiative which got underway in the previous edition, and which was a great success, especially among the visitors.

As you can see, you can begin to choose the dates on which to travel to the Costa da Morte, and make your holidays coincide with many other events being held in the area, such as the Festival da Carballeira in Zas, the colourful and varied local feasts and so on.

So, now you know...

THERE´S PLENTY TO SEE IN THE COSTA DA MORTE !!!
