The tourist trade on the Costa Da Morte is at its full during the Summer season

It is practically impossible to find a place to stay, either in a Hotel or a Hostal within the 1st to the 20th of August, in Costa da Morte.

The level of booked rooms steeply falls before and after this period. However, the general feeling among the regions hotel managers is that once the Summer is over, they are left with a positive balance. 90% of the regionīs existing hotels were busy throughout August whilst in July only two out of three were ocuppied.

The numbers greatly fall before and after this month; that is, July and September, where, except in specific enclaves such as Fisterra, establishments are very much less busy. The touristic resorts coincide that Costa da Morte does not need publicity during this time of year. Summer tourism continues being the main source of income for this sector.

What remains to be known is how to create a potential source of other values, besides the sun and beach tourism, hense attracting visitors all year round. The hotel owners think that it is necessary to promote other types of inniciatives which will attract visitors all year round; one of which was the promotion of the french road, to Fisterra and Muxia, which coinciding with the celebration of the Xacobean Year, brought a great number of visitors to the region. Some people think that this is still not fully taken advantage to.
