CORCUBION
 An elegant seafaring town

Framed in the picturesque land of a beautiful creek, the little town of Corcubion is the most popular tourist resort of Fisterra's district.

Elegant touristic city of the Land's End

Corcubion maintained in the Middle Ages intense commercial relationships with the Mediterranean towns and concretely with the republic of Venice. The Traba and later the Moscoso were the lords of this city, which had one of the most important fleets in Europe.

Corcubion had as well a hospital to welcome the pilgrims who continued their route to the End of the World or to Muxia after  the visit to Saint James' Apostle.

Corcubion's beautiful old streets and amusing festivities gather every year all tourist on the way to the Land's End. Beyond its own attractiveness, the village is the geographical center to reach the wild lands of Duio, Dumbria, Carnota, and Muxia's Sanctuary.

Historical-Artistic Town of Corcubion

Corcubion has been declared Historical-Artistic Town in 1985. The main appeal of the village is its antiquity and noble architecture:

Altamira's Counts Manor House, built in the XV century, although it has been modified later on. It had an elegant court of justice room and a prison.

The harbour, built again after being destroyed by the napoleonic troops. Its strategic localization and security make it ideal in size for yatch sailing.

Casa de Minones, built in 1899, it is a mixture of Galician traditional architecture and modernist style.

Cardinal Castle, designed by La Ferriere in 1741, it defended the creek with 12 artillery pieces and 96 soldiers.

San Marcos' church, originally built in the XII century, was reformed several times, one of the last in 1832 when a storm ruined part of the tower.

Other important constructions are the Pilar's Chapel, built in this century; San Antonio's Chapel, built around 1700; San Pedro's church, of the XII century, and the Cape of Cee, built in 1860, from where there is a great view of the creek and of the Lobeiras' Islands, witness of several shipwrecks.
